Case Management Level I Program Overview

The Recovery Enhancement Program (REP) is a program that aids individuals who suffer from addiction on their journey to recovery. REP is designed as an extension of residential treatment that is intended to help participants follow through with their aftercare recommendations. Case Management Level I is the first track in REP. Such recommendations may include random urine drug screenings, attendance at 12-step meetings, meetings with a 12-step sponsor, meetings with a therapist, counsellor, or psychiatrist, and attendance at aftercare or outpatient services. The program is not limited to only those suffering from a chemical dependency; it is also available to individuals with mental health issues and other process addictions (such as eating disorders or gambling addiction, etc.). We offer two different tracks to provide a progressive level of support.
Case Management Level I not only benefits the individuals participating in the program, it also benefits their loved ones and support network. The program gives responsibility back to the participants while holding them accountable for their own program progress. This alleviates family members from the burden of monitoring the participant on their own.
What are the Components of a REP contract?
- Recommendations from the treatment facility
- Recommendations from the family and/or appointed outside agency
- Participant contact information and personal history
- Releases of confidential health information for anyone who will be involved with their support network and aftercare program
How does REP manage these requirements?
- Urine drug and alcohol screening: Clients are required to call in on weekdays to an automated system to find out if they are selected to do a urine drug screening. If they are chosen, they have on hand a list of approved testing sites. They are required to take along a pre-paid testing form called a Chain of Custody (COC) form.
- Costs for the test are paid through the COC form
- If a participant’s urine drug screen comes back diluted or positive, it will be reviewed by a Medical Review Office that will determine if the test clears or fails
- Attendance at 12 Step meetings: Clients are supplied with AA/NA slips that they take to their 12 Step meetings. Clients agree to have the slips signed by the meeting secretary, and then mail the slips in a provided, pre-addressed envelope to REP weekly.
- Meetings with a 12 Step sponsor: In addition to having slips signed at 12 Step meetings, clients need to earmark meetings they attended with their sponsor by writing “sponsor” as the activity on their meeting slip and have their sponsor sign their slip each week.
- Meetings with a therapist/counsellor/psychiatrist: If meeting with any of these professionals is a recommendation made by the treatment center or family, then REP will request updates from these individuals on either a monthly or quarterly basis, depending on the case.
- Attendance at Aftercare or Outpatient services (if recommended): If a participant needs to follow up with Aftercare or Outpatient services, REP will request monthly treatment updates from the provider.
REP Program Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
- Who can be Case Managed under the Recovery Enhancement Program? Anyone in an addiction recovery program for substance abuse, process addictions, or mental health disorders, who are not covered under another professional monitoring program is eligible for a contract in REP. Our clients range from high school students to engineers.
- How do we get our family member into Recovery Enhancement Program?
Have the potential client contact us at 1-800-386-1695. We will need a Release of Confidential Health Information to contact their addiction treatment provider and get their after-care recommendations.
- How long does it take to get into the REP program?
The whole process can take 1-2 weeks, depending on several factors. Once REP receives a signed Release of Confidential Health Information form and client contact information we will make the necessary arrangements for program drug and alcohol testing. We will contact the treatment center and put together a REP Contract during this initial set-up time. If Southworth Associates is contacted before the second-to-last week of treatment, we can usually have a new client entered into the REP program the day they discharge.
- What is the cost of the Recovery Enhancement Program?
The cost of recovery monitoring is variable depending on the length of the billing cycle and in some cases the treatment center pays for all or part of REP. Normally there is a one-time set-up charge and clients are billed in yearly increments. There are additional charges for drug testing, treatment, counsellor sessions, etc. that are not part of the REP billing.
Please feel free to contact Southworth Associates at 1-800-386-1695 to discuss the Recovery Enhancement Program.
Please note: The Recovery Enhancement Program used to be called the Southworth Associates Monitoring (SAM) Program, but was renamed after input from program participants. Some treatment centers have elected to retain the old name for their enrolled clients.
